Welcome community leaders! As decision makers, your choices – from when to irrigate to which plumbing fixtures you use - can have significant impacts on your community’s water use. That’s why we’re here to help by teaching best practices with online classes for your employees, offering educational material for you and your communities and sharing water-saving project reimbursement opportunities.

The District offers free online classes to community managers and staff that teach water conservation best practices.  Conserving water helps communities save on costs and protect natural resources. Continuing education units (CEUs) are available to licensed Community Association Managers through the Florida Bureau of Business and Professional Regulation.

Current trainings include:

  • Efficient Landscape Irrigation for Communities (One hour CEU)

For questions or to be notified about upcoming classes, contact Katherine Munson at (352) 448-0602 or Katherine.Munson@WaterMatters.org.

Up to $20,000 in Funds Available for Water Conservation Projects

The District’s Water Incentives Supporting Efficiency (WISE) program offers reimbursement of up to 50% of costs and up to $20,000 for water conservation projects. Projects such as irrigation system enhancements, plumbing fixture replacements, water pretreatment systems and more are eligible while funds last.

Visit the WISE webpage to learn more about the program and how to apply.

Irrigation and Watering Restrictions

The District restricts lawn irrigation to twice a week, however, local cities and counties have special schedules or stricter one-day-per-week measures in place.  Understanding how and when to adjust your irrigation system to meet current or seasonal weather variations is important, and usually simple to do.
