District recognized for its contributions to AWRA
The Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Governing Board Tuesday learned of the District’s recent recognition for its contribution to the promotion and advancement of the American Water Resources Association (AWRA).
The association’s mission is to promote water resources education through technical presentations. The association also provides grants to K-12 teachers for water resources education programs and grants as well as scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students in water resource-related programs.
The efforts of several District staff members were mentioned in the award presentation, including Carol Lynch, senior administrative assistant; Paul O’Neil, regulation performance management director; Kurt Fritsch, inspector general; and Jay Yingling, senior economist. Lynch has assisted with AWRA’s Florida Section newsletter for the past seven years. O’Neil, Fritsch, and Yingling were recognized for the development and formulation of an auditing protocol to meet association requirements. Yingling was also recognized for serving as the AWRA’s Florida Section treasurer for the past two years.
This is the second time the District received AWRA’s corporate award, which is presented annually. District staff accepted the award during the Florida Section’s annual conference in July.
