Expectations of Grant Recipients
Consider the following important information while preparing your grant application:
- Applicants must be public, private or homeschool teachers, grades pre-K through 12.
- Teachers may apply individually or as a group. Applicants may request up to $5,000 per school. Special consideration will be given to applicants that coordinate their grant efforts with other teachers at their school.
- Grant recipients must attend a grant implementation workshop at the beginning of the grant period and are required to attend a sharing day at the end of the grant implementation period to present their projects to other teachers. Dates and locations will be announced.
- This grant is a reimbursement-only grant.
- Approved applications may require revisions to the project, its components and proposed expenditures. If revisions are required, SWFWMD project managers will work with approved applicants to ensure this occurs.
- All materials related to the project must be reviewed by the SWFWMD project manager to ensure the contents reflect the SWFWMD's mission.
- The SWFWMD, as a funding source, reserves the right to share all projects, concepts, artwork, photos, videos and other products of these grants with other individuals who desire to create projects in their own schools or communities.
- All funded projects must be completed in accordance with SWFWMD and state rules, regulations and procedures.
Cost reimbursements
This is a reimbursement-only grant. Only approved items for approved amounts may be purchased. All reimbursements — with no exceptions — will be made in accordance with Florida Statutes. A line-item budget that reflects the funds allocated will be included with the funding award letter. The SWFWMD reserves the right to audit the use of the funds to meet the public purpose.
Note: The SWFWMD will not reimburse for any work done or any purchases made before a purchase order is issued.
Public schools: A purchase order will be issued to the county school district office for all approved public school mini-grants within the county. All proper project documentation must be submitted by the school district office to the SWFWMD in order to receive reimbursement.
Private and homeschool groups: A purchase order will be issued to the private school or homeschool group for the approved mini-grant project and line-item budget. A federal I.D. number and W-9 form for the private school must be submitted to the SWFWMD before a purchase order can be opened. All proper project documentation must be submitted by the private school to the SWFWMD in order to receive reimbursement.
