Making Your Budget
A line-item budget must be attached to the application. The SWFWMD may choose to fund a project at less than 100 percent of the proposed budget.
Project-related items we may pay for include, but are not limited to:
- Field trips and transportation costs for field trips
- Project-specific consumable supplies and materials
- Printing & postage
- Teacher training
- Freshwater resources education software
- Water testing kits
- Tool rentals
- Plants and soil for Florida-friendly landscaping projects
- Film and photo processing
- Signage
- Portable toilet rentals
- Microscopes
- Meeting room rentals
- Shipping costs
- Watershed or groundwater models
- Books or videos about freshwater resources, watersheds, water quality, etc., that are geographically pertinent
- Water Conservation Kits for grades K-3
available for $250 through the SWFWMD
- K–3 Watershed Resource Box
available for $500 through the SWFWMD
- Watershed Education Resources Boxes for grades 4-8
available for $500 through the SWFWMD
We cannot pay for:
- T-shirts
- Food or beverages
- Irrigation piping or other capital expenditures
- Graphic design/artwork
- Computers or word processing or publishing software
- Video or digital cameras
- Pavers, boardwalks, fences, benches or construction projects
- Salaries
- Fountains
- Storage or display cases
- Audio/visual equipment
Unbudgeted expenses
Purchases for items other than those specified in the line-item budget will require SWFWMD project manager approval before they are incurred. Unapproved expenditures are not reimbursable.
