MEDIA ALERT: District to Dedicate Phase 1 of Terra Ceia Ecosystem Restoration Project

The "Southwest Florida Water Management District":http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/ (District) will dedicate Phase 1 of the Terra Ceia Ecosystem Restoration Project on Monday, May 12th at 10:30 a.m. in Terra Ceia.

Invited speakers include representatives from the District, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Manatee County government.

In addition to the program speakers, representatives from the Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center, Inc. in Anna Maria will release some rehabilitated birds onto the property.

The Dedication celebrates the completion of the first phase of this project, which has restored more than 840 acres of uplands and wetlands in Manatee County. The restoration helps offset habitat losses suffered throughout Tampa Bay, Bishop Harbor Bay and Terra Ceia Bay.

The restoration project was a collaboration between the District and the Terra Ceia Preserve State Park and Aquatic Preserve Programs of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Please note – all activities will take place outside so please wear appropriate shoes and attire. A guided tour will be available immediately following the dedication.
